Appearance

"Actinotus minor" is a small, spreading, perennial herb, 15–50 cm high with long, thin stems. The leaves are small and pointed, divided into 3 lobed segments, 6–8 mm long, more or less smooth above, hairy and white on the under surface. The leaf stems are slender and up to 12 mm long. The flower is a cream-white coloured umbel, 3.5–8.5 mm in diameter. The bracts are lance-shaped, sometimes dark-tipped, 5–8.5 mm long and 0.7–1 mm wide, pointed and sparsely hairy on the lower surface. Flowering can occur at any time of the year, the fruit is oval-shaped, 1.9–2.9 mm long and 0.8–1.3 mm wide.

Naming

"Actinotus minor" was first formally described in 1830 by Augustin Pyramus de Candolle and the description was published in Prodromus Systematis Naturalis Regni Vegetabilis. The specific epithet means "smaller".
