Distribution

Poekilloptera phalaenoides has been recorded as present in Brazil, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago.

Behavior

Considered a pest of agricultural crops. Ingests plant sap and excretes honeydew which is used as a food source by fungi, that in turn, reduces the rate of photosynthesis of the host plant.
