Appearance

The Mylabrina Group of the genus Pyrota Dejean is characterized by a distinctive trifasciate elytral color pattern, consisting of a basal, median, and apical black fascia on an orange or yellow background.

Distribution

Meloidae are a family of Coleoptera well represented in the arid and semiarid regions of the world. Its greatest generic diversity in the American continent lies in the Neotropical region, with 35 genera (28 are endemic), in contrast with the Nearctic region, that has 22 genera. This chapter summarizes the present state of the knowledge of the family in Argentina and includes taxonomic generalities, present classification, cited species, and geographic distribution, also providing in-formation on the Argentinian entomological collections housing specimens
