Scandent to prostrate shrubs, up to 1.5 m long, hollow stems, membranous leaves, sepals reddish, wings dark lilac, keel with dark lilac base, beige-yellow in the apex, very young fruits green, young inflorescence with 4-6 open flowers.Distribution
It is distributed from Guatemala to Panama.Habitat
In Costa Rica it is located in very humid, pluvial and oak forest, forests and associated secondary vegetation, elevations between (100-) 300 and 2100 (-2850) m, on both slopes.References:
