Monnina parasylvatica

Appearance

Scandent to prostrate shrubs, up to 1.5 m long, hollow stems, membranous leaves, sepals reddish, wings dark lilac, keel with dark lilac base, beige-yellow in the apex, very young fruits green, young inflorescence with 4-6 open flowers.

Distribution

It is distributed from Guatemala to Panama.

Habitat

In Costa Rica it is located in very humid, pluvial and oak forest, forests and associated secondary vegetation, elevations between (100-) 300 and 2100 (-2850) m, on both slopes.
