Naming

The genus Distichocera, with currently six species recognized from Australia, was erected by Kirby in 1818 for the (type) species Distichocera maculicollis Kirby, 1818 and is often placed in a separate tribe Distichocerini, either together with the genus Velora or on its own, with Velor being classified as tribe Desmiphorini in the subfamily Lamiinae (sic!).
