Naming

There are three subspecies of ''Stipagrostis hirtigluma'': subsp. ''hirtigluma'', subsp. ''patula'' and subsp. ''pearsonii''. Subspp. ''hirtigluma'' and ''pearsonii'' display many similarities. All three subspecies occur in Namibia.
