This species has bounced around between the genus Masticophis and the genus Coluber.

Distribution

Masticophis bilineatus is found in southern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico, and in the Mexican states of Sonora, Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Nayarit, and Durango.
