Appearance

Gray to brown. Size to 8 cm. Dark tips on tail fin lobes and dark blotch on middle edge of anal fin. Black tips on dorsal fin rays.

Distribution

Indo- to Eastern Central Pacific. From red Sea and East Africa to Australia and New Caledonia.

Behavior

Usually forms groups.

Habitat

Shoreline reefs, lagoons and outer slopes in 2-20 m.

Reproduction

Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding. Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate. Males guard and aerate the eggs.
