Appearance
The length reaches about 4.5mm. The wings are often held in a front-facing position and carry markings that are very characteristic and distinctive. The green eyes carry transverse orange-red bands.
Reproduction
Females are mostly attracted to Hawthorn bushes with berries in order to lay their eggs, after which the larvae feed in the Hawthorn fruits, but other host plants are also recorded, such as various other Crataegus spp. as well as some Sorbus, Pyracantha, Cotoneaster species.References:
