Naming
Two varieties have been named, which are sometimes considered distinct species. They are:⤷ ''O. pedunculatum'' var. ''pedunculatum'' - Native to a widespread area west of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
⤷ ''O. pedunculatum'' var. ''psoralioides'' - Native primarily to the Atlantic Coastal Plain.
