The great sapphirewing is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.

Appearance

At 15.5-17.5 cm in length and weighing about 10 grams, this is one of the largest species of hummingbird, though slightly smaller than the "Topaza" hummingbirds and the giant hummingbird.
