Eye-patterned Gum Hopper

Platybrachys vidua

Platybrachys vidua is a planthopper in the family Eurybrachidae.
Platybrachys vidua gum hopper Of interest when watching this gumhopper, I noticed that when moving, it moved forward and backward, never sideways. Forewings are reddish-brown with two black spots near the wing tip. These may be defensive markings and give the impression of the head being at the tail end and also making the insect appear larger.
