Appearance

Like all Latridiidae it's a rather small beetle (1.9-2.2mm) with very coarsely punctate elytra, in the case of Cartodere bifasciata bearing a distinct patern of dark spots on a paler background (that may fuse into cross bands on some individuals). The pronotum has distinctive transparent, swollen lateral margins.
