The Baltimore bomolocha or Baltimore hypena is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It is found in the Eastern part of the United States, west and south to Wisconsin, Missouri and Florida and Texas.

Appearance

The wingspan is 26–32 mm. The moth flies from April to October depending on the location. There are at least two generations in New England and additional generations southward.
Baltimore Snout - Hypena baltimoralis TL: ~18 mm. This moth had totally different coloration than the one I spotted earlier this summer!  FW was dark brown and had a green median area. PM area was blue, white, and brown. Host: Maple

Food

The larvae feed on maple, mainly red and silver maple.
