Orthotylus flavosparsus is a species of plant-eating bug in the Miridae family, which is found everywhere in Europe except for Albania and Iceland. It was introduced to North America. The green membrane cells and the patches of silvery hairs on the upperside are distinctive.

Appearance

Distribution

Native to, and widespread in the Palaearctic, adventive in North America (Wisconsin to West Virginia to Geoergia and Arkansas. Also Newfoundland in Canada).

Habitat

The species can be found on oraches and chenopods, which is their main food.

Food

Chenopods such as fat-hen (Chenopodium album) and oraches (Atriplex spp.).
