Confused Ochlerotatus punctor, Heeswijk, Netherlands One of hundreds encountered on this hot day in the field, yet most would not sit still and pose. I'm not entirely sure what the furry object is. It does not look man-made, the only theory I got is the wing of a hairy moth that got stuck in the cog web. Check out the length of the legs in this pose. Mosquito on my jeans, Heeswijk, Netherlands One of hundreds encountered on this hot day in an overgrown field, with at least a few dozen managing to bite me. This one was trying to penetrate my jeans.

There are not that many species of mosquito in the Netherlands, so I'm hoping to get it identified. My guess is Aedes punctor, which is known to be abundant in our forests.

Hoping Christine sees this :) Europe,Heeswijk-Dinther,Netherlands,Ochlerotatus punctor,World
