Heterogaster urticae

Heterogaster urticae

Heterogaster urticae is a species of true bug in the family Lygaeide. It is found in Africa and Europe & Northern Asia.
Heterogaster urticae - Group of nymphs (the little red one is something else - Scolopostethus maybe)
Rather old series (2009), mostly as a reminder to get better images this year.
Someone mentioned not having seen these for a while (years) and it made me think "hmmm, me neither" - or is it that I just didn't pay attention? Anyway, a very very common species, although a bit less so in the north of our country.

Naming

There is some discussion about the large family Lygaeidae needing to be split up into many, many families mostly corresponding to current subfamilies. This species would be placed in the family Heterogastridae in that view.
