Appearance

A pale pinkish lavender cap with striate margins. White stipe and gills. The caps are 5-10 cm wide, stipe is 5-7 cm tall.

Naming

Verblassender Täubling in German, which means "Fading Russula" because of the fading pink color they show as an immature.

Distribution

Holarctic distribution - Europe, N. America, north Asia, Morocco, and Greenland. They grow from May to November on lowlands to higher mountain levels.

Habitat

Birch forests of Europe, N. America, north Asia, Morocco, and Greenland
