
Appearance
Leaf spot is characterized by round to irregular-shaped silvery spots that are up to 5 mm in diameter. They have reddish to purple borders. The black specks are the fruiting bodies (pycnidia) of the fungus, and form in the centers of older spots. Leaf spot is most severe under crowded, shaded, and excessively moist conditions.
Habitat
Leaf spot is a plant pathogen on Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia) as well as some other members of the Ericaceae family.References:
