Appearance

The Belted Leaf Roller is approximately 13mm long. The forewings are gray with a reddish basal area. There is a thick black median band edged with pale gray. The hindwings are tan with no markings.

Naming

Formerly Nephopteryx vetustella; Nephopterix vetustella

Behavior

Adults are on wing June to August

Habitat

The larvae seem to prefer Basswood trees (Tilia species) as a host.
