Cap: 15-40 mm; convex to planoconvex; pale brown with a darker center; bald; usually without universal veil remnants, but occasionally with a few white patches.Gills: White; free and crowded with frequent short-gills.
Stem: Terminating in a small basal bulb; white, but sometimes discoloring brownish; with a white ring that flares upwards or hangs skirt-like.
Habitat
Mycorrhizal with white oak. It often grows in moss and in oak-hickory forests.References:
