Appearance
On dorsal views, this species can be set off from many other Trichoniscidae in its range by the eyes made up of a single bigger ocellus (in life specimen coloured reddish), the rough structure of the tergites, the narrow pleon (hind body) and the often slightly orange tinge (note that the colour of eyes and body is quickly lost in alcohol). One other very similar species in western Europe is Trichoniscoides sarsi, that is prevalently found in more coastal regions on marine clay, whereas T. helveticus is found on clay soils deposited by rivers.References:
