Xanthoparmelia californica a one a the foliose lichen in the genus Xanthoparmelia (family Parmeliaceae), collectively referred to as Rock-Shield Lichen. The genus had previously been known as Almbornia, Neofuscelia, Chondropsis, Namakwa, Paraparmelia or Xanthomaculina, but this particular species has not been described until 1984 (Hale, 1984)

Appearance

Distribution

The family Parmeliaceae is found on the mid-east coast of the United States.
