Yellow-eared toucanet

Selenidera spectabilis

The yellow-eared toucanet is a species of bird in the family Ramphastidae found in humid forests of Central America and the Chocó. Cassin's aracari is an alternate name for the yellow-eared toucanet.
Yellow-eared Toucanet The Yellow-eared Toucanet is a tiny, shy, elusive toucan that spends all of its time in the primary forest canopy and is very difficult to see. Except when it decides to do the opposite.

The cold, wet weather in northern Costa Rica is forcing birds out of the forest and this male toucanet has spent the last month hanging out at the banana feeders, completely relaxed with humans.

In fact, I've had this fellow eat banana I'm holding in my hand! Very bizarre. Costa Rica,Geotagged,Selenidera spectabilis,Yellow-eared toucanet
