Chrysocoris dilaticollis

Chrysocoris dilaticollis

Chrysocoris dilaticollis is one of the many black spotted golden-geen Asian Jewel Bugs (Scutelleridae) in the genus Chrysocoris.
Jewel Bug - Chrysocoris cf. dilaticollis Jewel Bugs from the region are often too easily referred to as "Chrysocoris stollii" (or stolli), as that is the most notorious pest in the genus, but it is a large genus with many species that all look superficially alike. This one may very well be Chrysocoris dilaticollis. Chrysocoris,Chrysocoris dilaticollis,Fall,Geotagged,Hemiptera,Heteroptera,Jewel Bug,Malaysia,Penang,Scutelleridae

Appearance

Very often any image showing a iridescent green Jewel Bug with black spots on the internet are just named Chrysocoris stollii, as this is the most well known species due to its status as pest on many crops.
Chrysocoris dilaticollis is identified by the flattened antero-lateral margins and straight anterior margin of the pronotum, as well as by some characteristics of the patterns formed by the black spots on pronotum and shield.
