
Appearance
Bugs in the genus Sciocoris are often quite hard, if not impossible to identify to species from photo alone. Sciocoris sideritidis shares some external characters with other species in the subgenus Neosciocoris that easily sets it apart from other Sciocoris such as the common S. cursitans, but it is very, very similar to the likes of Sciocoris maculatus and S. canariensis. Preferable method for ID is examination of male genitalia.
Distribution
Currently the species is known from the west mediterranean (Slovenia to Iberia - partly based on unpublished records) and from some Macaronesian islands (Madeira and Canaries).References:
