
Appearance
Philautus jayarami can be distinguished from other green former "Philautus" in the Western Ghats by its relatively large size (snout–vent length) and a unique white lateral side and thigh margin, sometimes with bluish spots.Naming
The species has only recently been described (as Philautus jayarami) by Biju and Bossuyt (2009) and the genus Raorchestes was erected one year later by Biju, Shouche, Dubois, Dutta & Bossuyt (2010). In their phylogenetic tree R.jayarami is closely related to R. glandulosus (prevously also in the genus Philautus, originally in the genus Ixalus).References:
