The species Marmessoidea flavoguttata (Stål, 1877) is a Phasmid from the subfamily Necrosciinae Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893 and tribe of Necrosciini Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893.

However, this species has been wrongly placed in the genus of Marmessoidea when it should be under the genus of Rhamphosipyloidea Redtenbacher, 1908.
Stick Insect, Phasmid - Marmessoidea flavoguttata This is a Phasmid from the species Marmessoidea flavoguttata.  They have yellow spots on its wing covers, hence its name - flavoguttata, which means yellow drops/spots.  This feature is more prominent in the Males.

In the picture, it can be clearly seen this female has a pointed hook-like genitalia which also means, this species has been wrongly classified under the genus Marmessoidea. Naming

Phasmid of this species have 4 yellow spots on the wing covers, hence its name flavoguttata (Latin flavus - yellow and guttatus - drops/spots)

The females of this species, which makes them identified to the correct genus of Rhamphosipyloidea has a pointed hook like genitalia, which they use to drill the eggs into substrates. Species from the genus Marmessoidea which they are currently placed under does not do that but either glues their eggs or pin them into substrates.

Distribution

Found in Luzon Island, this species if endemic to the Philippines.
