The species, Aretaon asperimus (Redtenbacher, 1906) is a Phasmid from the sub-family of Obriminae Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893 and tribe of Obrimini Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893.
Moss Female Phasmids, still nymph of the species, likely Aretaon asperimus, based on the location I saw her. I was surprised with how mossy she looks, and how well she camouflage among the moss on the tree trunk. Previous sighting of the same species from the same location were brown in colour. Appearance

In female, lateral margins of abdominal segments 1-4 with small posterior lateral spines, lateral margins of abdominal segments 5-7 with very small postero-lateral expansion. Dorsal carinae of all tibia with very small to minute spines only. Male with pair of anterior marginal spines, without posterior mesal mesonotal spines and extremely minute or absent lateral mesonotal spines, only abdominal segments 8 and 9 with small posterior lateral lobes.

Length of male : 47-54 mm
Length of female : 74-88 mm

Distribution

This species can be found in lowlands of Sabah, north-east part of Borneo Island.
