Paropsisterna cernua is a rare alpine beetle in the chrysomelidae (leaf beetle) family.
Paropsisterna cernua (Chp.) Probably the the only photograph in existence of this beetle.  Possibly the only (now) pinned specimen in Australia.  The ANIC (national insect collection has none)  The type is probably in London.  This is an unexpected find.    Australia,Geotagged,Paropsisterna cernua,Spring

Appearance

The puncturations on the elytra are significant, being large. The series are ten, and described as 'flexuous' meaning they are not neatly aligned into rows. The interstitial puncturations are of equally large size.

Distribution

Described as from NSW but likely to be generally alpine.

Status

Rare.
