Grypocoris stysi

Grypocoris stysi

Grypocoris stysi is a conspicuous bug found widely throughout the UK.
Grypocoris is a genus of true bugs belonging to the family Miridae or plant bugs, subfamily Mirinae.
Grypocoris stysi Grypocoris stysi and G. sexguttatus have been confused and mixed-up historically, so older records have to be interpreted with care. The current status in Fauna Europaea (2016-11 but last updated in 2011) would have stysi occurring in Spain and sexguttatus in Portugal, but both not vice versa.
That makes this photo not only the first species record for Portugal on the JD site (and for the site as a whole), but also probably the first "published" record for Portugal for science ;o) Grypocoris stysi,Heteroptera,Miridae,Portugal
