Behavior
The animals are bound to robbery plants (Boraginaceae), in particular to dog spears (cynoglossum), snake heads (echium), lotus (Onosma) and legwell (symphytum). They suck on the leaf tissue and above all on the ripening fruits. As in the case of the leather bug, the younger nymphs are bound to a certain host plant, but older nymphs and imagines are also found on herbaceous plants from other families, such as camomiles, gray herbs (Senecio), scirrhledis (Cirsium), flakes (Centaurea ) And Artemisia from the Asteraceae family, carrots (Daucus) from the Apiaceae family, Thymian (Thymus) and Sage (Salvia) from the Lamiaceae family and King's candles (Verbascum) from the family Of the brown-sprout plants (Scrophulariaceae). The mating and oviposition takes place in May and June. The females lay their eggs on the basic leaves of the food plants. The nymphs appear from June to August and September. From the end of July, the adult animals of the new generation can be found. The overwintering, for example, under the rosette leaves of royal candles sometimes takes place in aggregations.
