Decticus albifrons

Decticus albifrons, the white forehead dectic, is a species of grasshoppers of the family Tettigoniidae. This species occurs in the Mediterranean to Central Asia. In France, Cliff Dectique goes north to the departments of Loire, Rhône, Cantal, Lot, and the Atlantic coast of the Charente-Maritime and Maine-et-Loire. Its former presence in Switzerland, Graubünden, presumably proceeds accidental introductions; the species has in any case never found.

Appearance

With a size between 32 and 40 mm, the white forehead hectic are among the largest grasshoppers present in Western Europe. The insect is quite stocky and has a brown-gray coloring. The wings have white streaks and far exceed the length of the body. The female's ovipositor sometimes reached nearly 2 cm. The head is massive and has powerful jaws that could include inflicting substantial bites.

Habitat

Reproduction

The adult insect is from the month of July and remain until November.
