Lychee Shield Bug

Chrysocoris stollii

Chrysocoris stollii is a Jewel Bug (Scutelleridae) in the genus Chrysocoris. It is the most well known species of the genus due to its status as pest on many crops such as Pigeonpea, Pongamia, Jatropha, Arecanut and Coffee Senna to name but a few.

Appearance

There are many, MANY, species of iridescent green Jewel Bugs with black spots in the same regions where Chrysocoris stollii is found and even in various different genera such as Calliphara and Eucorysses among others. Proper identification of all these Jewel Bugs is not simple and in many cases probably not even possible reliably from photos, so many images on the internet "identified" as Chrysocoris stollii will in fact show other species.
