Lubricogobius exiguus is a small fish (max. 4 cm) member of Gobiidae family.

At a glance, it could be confused with Paragobiodon xanthosoma - Yellow Hairy/Bearded Goby but this  Lubricogobius exiguus is completely smooth bodied.

Appearance

Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-10; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 5 - 7. Pelvic fins with a well-developed frenum; anterior nostrils usually present (rarely absent on one side); dorsal and ventral edges of caudal peduncle strongly keeled; bright yellow in color.
Looking after next generation This Yellow Pygmy Goby deposit their eggs on substrates and they spend time to take care of it by cleaning the sand/dirts that may falls on the eggs and also using the fins to 'wave' to oxgenate the eggs.

Western Pacific: Japan, Taiwan and New Caledonia.

Habitat

Inhabits shallow inshore to moderate depth on muddy substrates, usually with small outcrops of rubble or debris.
