Saprophytes don't use chlorophyll and do not need sunlight - these are plants that feed on decaying organic matter and often have complex relationships with fungi and other soil organisms. They tend to be rare and live only under rather specific conditions. Orchids, Indian pipes, pine sap, broomrape, gnome plant and others fit into this category.
