Red Algae - Peyssonnelia sp.? The rocks of the upper low tide zone (still underwater) were encrusted with this reddish stuff. I don&#039;t know if the red crust is related to the black spots (tunicates?) and white specks or if they are 3 separate things.<br />

Red Algae - Peyssonnelia sp.?

    1. Thanks so much for the ID suggestion! I'll add it to the description :). When I spotted this, I thought they looked so much like lichens, but underwater, lol. I wish I had gotten a better shot of the black spots/tunicates! Grrr. It is really difficult to see through the water and notice tiny things underwater. I am now even more amazed and appreciative of the photos that you get while underwater! It isn't easy at all! Posted 5 years ago
