Unidentified_spider in San Antonio, Texas USA One can see that this is a very small spider as compared to the rose petal it sits on. I was using a 15x macro lens to capture this. Perhaps it's a young wolf spider? I know we can't see the face, it seems like the body and legs are similar to a wolf spider. Geotagged,Spring,United States Click/tap to enlarge

  1. What are you using for the magnification, Deb? Add-on lens? Curious because 15:1 is a LOT, it's at microscopic level.

Unsure about the spider, hope others know. Usually a spider's eye arrangement decides on the family, if a frontal shot is possible, good to keep in mind.

    1. Honestly, 15x may not be accurate, it's one of those add on lenses you can clip on an iphone. I do a lot of night photography with it. That's what it says on the side of the lens. Again, the size of the rose petal is a better gage of the size. I'm afraid this is a few months old, so I'm not sure I will encounter the spider again to get a better shot. Who knows though : )

      1. Thanks, Deb. I suspect perhaps the add-on lens refers to zoom, instead of magnification. They are easy to mix up.

No worries about the spider. Sometimes we simply can't ID. In that case the photo is still of value and can be found in several ways (search, via tags, country map, etc).

  2. It says 15x macro on it but is a cheap import lens. Thanks, I will keep looking. Posted 5 years ago
