Mayfly nymph

Mayflys are a group of insects known for their extremely short adult life spans and emergence in large numbers in the summer months. There are four stages to the life cycle....egg, nymph, sub imago and adult imago. Pictured here is the aquatic immature stage, which can last up to two years.
