Bougainvillea
In a home garden, this was by far the biggest display from Bougainvillea I had ever seen. I wondered if it was a single plant or several. This is just part of the display, both tremendous in width and height.
These thorny, drought tolerant ornamental vines, shrubs and trees in genus Bougainvillea are native to South America, from Brazil west to Peru and south to southern Argentina. Well known for their intensely coloured flowers, which are actually a modified coloured leaf called a bract. A ring of bracts surrounds the tiny white tubular flowers clustering in the centre.
