It did take about two more days for the nymph to emerge after all and I just missed that happening, but this image shows the still teneral nymph, together with the empty egg:<br />

    1. Yes, these little ones seem to be quite oddly (badly?) "balanced" somehow, but must serve some purpose as most species of Coreidae seem to have this on their early nymphs ... I'll dig up some first stadium nymphs for Coreus marginatus too one of these days ;o) Posted 5 years ago, modified 5 years ago

Gonocerus acuteangulatus is a herbivorous species of true bug in the family Coreidae. It is commonly known as the box bug in the UK as it once only occurred in Box Hill in Surrey where it fed on box trees.
