Almost ... Single egg of a Coreidae on a leaf of a rose, almost ready to hatch - through the egg shell you can already clearly recognize structures such as legs and head :o)

Update:
It did take about two more days for the nymph to emerge after all and I just missed that happening, but this image shows the still teneral nymph, together with the empty egg:
1. Yes - I quite liked how this came out - difficult with the lighting to see the structures inside - most images had too much glare on the surface of the egg ;o) Posted 5 years ago
  2. So sorry that I am fan-girling you this morning, but this egg is so beautiful! Awesome to be able to see the structures inside. Posted 5 years ago
    1. No worries Christine - I have little or no experience with being fan-girled, but it doesn't hurt so I suppose could get used to it ;o) Nothing but great respect myself for _your_ untiring efforts to document nature and organize things here - thanks a LOT for all you share and do for the benefit of all!! :o) Posted 5 years ago

Gonocerus acuteangulatus is a herbivorous species of true bug in the family Coreidae. It is commonly known as the box bug in the UK as it once only occurred in Box Hill in Surrey where it fed on box trees.
