Sanddiver lizard Sanddiver lizards of Namibia are very well adapted to live in the sands, their snout is shaped in a way that allows them to literally dive into the sands and swim just beneath the "surface". This one from the Sossusvlei region of the Naukluft National Park allowed me to get real close with my wideangle. dune, lizard, namibia, sand diving lizard, sossusvlei Click/tap to enlarge

  1. Interesting perspective, and a rarity to see much life in the desert during the day, right? Posted 14 years ago
    1. Geeeze, your are quick :-) nearly as quick as sanddivers ;-)
Actually one can see a wide range of live during the day in the Namib Desert (for instance in the winter time), but you are right of course that lots of the action happens away from the scorching heat in the still of the night.
