Megaloptera and Caddisfly larvae I was on a study tour to Himalayas where I was to check presence of any high altitude freshwater fishes and there I also had to check for the pray-base. These larvae are part of the diet in majority of the fish species of high altitude rivers is what I found. The one on top is larva of insect from the order Megaloptera (which is more than 300 species) and below that is the larva of caddisfly (A naked larva as it generally has covering like an exoskeleton). Its very tough or rather impossible to reach species level identification just from the photographs and hence leaving them as it is. 1. Fantastic finds, Abhijeet! Did the caddisfly larva have a case? Posted 5 years ago
    1. The specimen I got didn't have any case and when I was trying to read about it I got to know that young naked larvae take case building on priority. Sharing an abstract for short reference ????
