Goldenrod Bunch Gall - Rhopalomyia solidaginis

Females deposit an egg at the tip of a growing plant. The larva hatches out and then secretes a chemical, which prevents the goldenrod stem from growing (although it continues to produce leaves thus a shortened bunch of leaves are formed).
