Bicolored Sallow - Sunira bicolorago
This is the wrong season for this species, so I am unsure if the ID is correct. It could also be Apamea helva, Orthosia hibisci, or a different species of sallow.
Habitat: I fished it out of a maple sugaring bucket that was hanging on a maple tree. I frequently peek in maple sugaring buckets this time of year to rescue any insects from drowning inside. Today, I rescued several moths and a beetle.

The Bicolored Sallow or Shield-backed Cutworm is a moth of the Noctuidae family. It is found in the eastern half of the United States and Canada.
