Syzygites megalocarpus
Isn't this beautiful?!
Syzygites megalocarpus is a mold that parasitizes mushrooms. It colonizes their surfaces with fuzz that becomes blue or gray as it develops. Unlike some species that completely engulf their victims, transforming them beyond recognition, Syzygites megalocarpus usually leaves its victim recognizable.
It felt like fluffy, yet slimy hair.
Habitat: Deciduous forest
