      1. Any photos of the bark or leaves? I could be wrong, but I think deciduous trees produce sap, while conifers make sap and resin. Sap is watery and develops in the xylem and phloem cells, which transport water and nutrients to rest of the tree. Maple syrup is made from sap. Resin is thick and sticky and is the stuff that oozes out of conifers. So, if a tree gets wounded, the resin will ooze out to protect that spot until it heals...kind of like a scab on skin. It's stored in the outer part of the tree. Posted 5 years ago
