Bushy Red Seaweed I think there might be two kinds of red seaweed jumbled together here. <br /> <br /> 1. The one with wide, light red branches may be Agardhiella sp., such as A. subulata or A. tenera. But it could also be Gracilaria verrucosa.<br /> <br /> 2. I think there might be two kinds of red seaweed jumbled together here.

1. The one with wide, light red branches may be Agardhiella sp., such as A. subulata or A. tenera. But it could also be Gracilaria verrucosa.

I need a seaweed expert!

    It's obvious in hindsight that they are 2 species, but I am 100% sure that I would not have noticed this, your attention to detail reputation is hereby restored. Posted 5 years ago

      Thanks Ferdy! I didn't notice it until looking at the photo...I avoid touching seaweed because it stinks up my hands, lol. But, next trip I will be more brave (or else will wear gloves), so I can pull them apart. I think I will find a bunch of other species that way, they will be easier to ID when separated properly, and maybe there will be some little critters hiding in there! Posted 5 years ago
