Chocolate brown moth white stripes, Ivoloina park, Madagascar A mystery so far. It reminded me of this earlier obscure find:<br />

Some species in Pyrausta seem to have some similarities too, but unable to find a strong match. Africa,Geotagged,Ivoloina park,LepiLED,Madagascar,Madagascar 2019,Winter,World Click/tap to enlarge Promoted

  1. It reminds me of Argyrostrotis sp., but I think that is mostly a North American genus. Maybe some other Erebid, like in the Tribe Poaphilini? Family Castniidae also has some similar moths, but again nothing near Madagascar.

    1. Found one strange Argyrostrotis observation from Mozambique but it looks different, despite having similar colors. I definitely think it's an Erebid. Also did some search for Poaphilini and Castniidae, some similar but nothing truly close.

Tough one as per usual for MDG moths. Thanks so much for helping out.

      1. MDG moths are definitely not easy to ID. They are gorgeous though! Posted 5 years ago
